Welcome 2026!!
2025 was an amazing year for Bobbins and Unicorns, llc! I started the website in March, launched my 1st pattern “Love Beetles”, wrote several blog posts and designed and participated in the Nocturnal Soul Stitchery QAL! It was busy and I honestly took the last quarter of 2025 off for the most part. But I have big goals for 2026 personally and for my business!
SMART Goal setting
New Year's resolutions seem to be unpopular these days. However, this is one of my favorite times of the year. I really like sitting down and assessing what has come before and how I can do better and setting goals. Does that need to be done on January 1st? Absolutely not and I think it should be done several times throughout the year but at the turn of the calendar seems like a really nice time. The cold and the darkness lend time to reflect. I set goals for my day job in healthcare alost daily and there are some really important parts to a goal to make it easier to keep and to follow, they are called SMART goals. A SMART goal can be written for any part of your life. I made an easy form to help learn the parts of a SMART goal and to help you write your own. I focused on quilty goals but the same rules apply for family, personal or business goals that you may have.
I have had some years where I chose a word of the year and then I've had some years where I did not. The year that I made “journey” my word of the Year, tt really struck a cord with me and I felt like I stuck to my goals that year. I've been trying to think of what I would like to accomplish this yearand what word would help me stay centered within those schools. The word that I've chosen for myself for 2026 is “push”. I have some lofty goals this year and having the reminder to Push forward and through the tough parts will pay off by the end of the year. Have you ever made a Word of the year?
I have business goals I want to push myself. I've got two quilt designs that I would would love to share out with the world this year as well as a really exciting Forgotten Rooms QAL that will be happening this year. Join the wait list here.
Personally, I am really wanting to refocus on healthier habits. In the past couple years, I have neglected my body in pursuit of other goals and just the work of being mom, wife, and working. So I would like to get back to eating right, getting stronger and setting a good example for my girls when it comes to food and exercise. And with my family, I just I'm hoping to spend some more quality time. I have a 15-year-old who's about to drive so we will be spending a lot of quality time together getting her hours and so she can get her license. And I have almost 13-year-old who is going to need extra support for her beginning teen years. Oh and a husband who needs probably deserves some attention as well. I have smart goals for each of these areas. Reassessing, on a quarterly basis, where I'm at and where I need to be. Goals are living entities. Sometimes what we though was realistic ends up not or what we though was our focus changes. Goals can change too. I will check back in in April to see how you are doing with your goals and let you know how I am doing with mine.
